John DiCarlo is the Managing Director of Student Media and the Claire Smith Center for Sports Media at Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication. He serves as the adviser to three award-winning student media outlets in The Temple News, WHIP Radio and the Templar Yearbook and was recognized this summer with the College Media Association's Distinguished Adviser Award. In directing the Claire Smith Center's Sports Media Certificate program, DiCarlo teaches its Sports Writing and Advanced Sports Reporting courses. An experienced sports reporter with more than 20 years of experience, he also continues to work in the sports media industry as the editor of OwlScoop.com, a website in the Yahoo! Sports network that covers Temple football and basketball. After earning a Journalism degree from Temple in 1998, DiCarlo worked at The Daily Journal, a Gannett newspaper in Vineland, NJ, where he covered everything from high school sports to the Philadelphia Eagles, before returning to work at Temple in 2001.
